Alumni News
So be a part of our winning team and support this fundraising effort.
Thanks,
Alumni sailors – please send in your current contact info so we can keep our database up to date. Let us know what you are up to and how you are doing.
Pre – 1995Darryl Tamash has been very active with working with the team ever since he left. Even though he and Theresa are living in Orlando, Florida, they still finding ways to help us out. Darryl was coaching at Rollins College for a couple of years and is now working for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The sailing team has traveled down to Rollins College twice and has spent the week working with the FJ’s and Coach Tamash. He’s still the same clown as when he was in high school.
1995Caitlin Macallister finished her degree at Tufts University and was a 4 time Women’s All-American Driver. She had a very successful sailing career at Tufts. Wanting to keep on the water, Caitlin went south and taught sailing for a year in Miami, but eventually gave into the real world. She is now working in Boston at Thompson Financial and is planning on attending grad school next September.
1996Megan Farrington writes from Georgia! Her email was very intriguing to me as she is involved with Art Auction Houses and in the business. She hopes to graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design with an M.F.A. in August. After that she plans on going into law school which will focus on Art Law. In addition to school and work, she has been doing some fundraising for the Auction house. She says Georgia is a far cry from Cape Cod, it is very different.
Eric Knight has been seen coaching high school sailing. Last spring he took the
Assistant Coaches position at Belmont Hill. (Yes, Barnstable beat Belmont last year!) He
is back on the water during the summer sailing his J22 with James Stusse and his Dad. But,
the big news was that Eric is now engaged and the story of the engagement is one you will
want to hear from Eric.
Theresa Robichaud finished her degree at Rollins College and is now married and living
in Florida with a former BHS Sailor. Darryl Tamash and Theresa were married 3 years ago and
have never left Florida. Theresa works for a software company making computer applications.
James Stusse checked in from Newport, RI as only James can do. He is working as a
Naval Architect trying to design "trick ass bling-bling racing sleds", but so far hasn't
cracked the market. In his free time, he has been spending time with his pet dolphin named
Chicken. James says Chicken has a strange habit of sitting on the internet chasing his nemesis
Radar....for those of you who remember MASH. As you can see, James is doing well and enjoying
life as a Naval Architect. It was good to hear from him.
John Mercaldo, according to James, is living in Brazil. James says he is working as a
sub sea AUV technician. We are not sure if this is true or if James is trying to spark some
interest on the page, but either way, what is a sub sea AUV technician?????? Thanks for the
update James.
Where are Brandon Chariff, and Pete Conway? 1997MaryKate Moniz has been involved with the team and here in Barnstable. She spent last year teaching Spanish and helping out with the team in the Spring. She had graduated from Hobart and rumor is she is now teaching in Harwich.
Where are Kris Davis and Meredith Dubay 1998Jenny Cardone has transferred to Vassar College and is planning on attending Grad School. She is working as a substitute teacher and working at a Kayak Shop. It is not sailing, but at least she is on the water.
Melissa St. Onge graduated from Salve Regina and is back on the Cape, “trying to
figure out the long term”. Melissa is working in Chatham, we are not sure what she is doing,
but surely she is smiling.
Andrew Nugnes has arrived home after working promo sales in Boston and Pittsburg.
He tried to strike it rich, but it didn’t happen. He spent last summer back at Oyster Harbors
laboring on the Golf Course, cutting greens and watering grass. Since then, word is he has
become interested in the Food and Service Industry and is looking to learn the trade.
Shelly Wentworth has been real busy sailing. After finishing up at Georgetown,
where she earned All-American honors and was a crew on the team that won the Team Racing
National Championship, she was of to Bermuda to teach sailing for the summer. She left
just days before the big hurricane hit. She has also been down to Annopolis, MD to do a
big time women’s event. What she is doing from there is anyone guess as she says.
Abbey Curran and I bumped into each other this summer. Abbey is doing very well.
She made it through college and was on her way out to California. She was hoping to catch
on with some contacts in the record industry and work towards a career in the music industry.
She was still doing some sailing, but not nearly enough.
Sarah Parkerchecked in from Boston. She finished up an accounting degree at Bryant
College and caught on right away in Boston working for a major accounting firm. She is doing
very well and is living in Brookline, MA. Last we knew, she was still a picky eater and needed
to rearrange her sandwiches before she could eat.
Kristin Farrington graduated form Wheaton College and is working towards her Masters
of Fine Arts. This degree will take her into the interior architecture and design field and
she should be done with her Master by 2005. Once she is done, she’ll be trying to catch on
with a design firm in Boston.
Where are Andrea Lincoln, Jill Toti and Chris Scarpato? 1999Where are Jamie Chizek, PK Marshall, and Andrew Ringler? 2000Nathan St. Onge decided not to return to Washington College this fall. It was tough news to hear after he was making strides on the team and beginning to get back to the form he had in High School. He worked as a Racing Coach at Hyannis YC this past summer.
Where are Jimmy Brown, Robin Deliso, Matt Barron, Kyle Willoughby, Brendan Murphy? 2001Where are Meredith Butler, Robert Carey, Kristin Hendrick, Tim Smith? 2002Clare O’Keeffe has checked in from Dartmouth College where she is a Sophomore. She had a busy summer coaching sailing at Hyannisport YC and the word is she really, really likes Dartmouth. Clare is sailing at Dartmouth and is working her way up the ladder. Hopefully she will track Robin Deliso down and tell Robin to get in touch with us.
Anthony Mazzeo called from a car ride back from the airport. He is a sophomore at St.
Mary’s College and is doing great. With his freshmen year behind him and a year wiser he is
starting to make strides on a very competitive team. He has been sailing a bunch and as always
enjoying himself. Over the summer Anthony was one of the Racing Coaches at Wianno YC,
hopefully he will come back for another year.
Cyrus Buffum …aka…”Guns” has been trying to sail at College of Charleston….you see,
if he can stop getting hurt he may be able to do it. Cyrus injured himself last spring in a
snowboarding accident and had to undergo surgery to fix his arm. With the arm heeled, he
worked all summer at Wianno YC teaching little kids how to sail a 420. As always, Cyrus has
jokes and keep us entertain. He does plan on sailing this year for Charleston.
Where are Maire Casey and Alyssa Ringler? 2003
Where is Andy Ready? 2004Sarah Nelson is currently attending College of Charlston majoring in International Business with a minor in French. She is on the sailing team, of which co-ed finished 20th in the nation while the Women's Team finished 1st! She says the weather is great and she loves the team and the school. Where are Sam Mazzeo, John Frazee, Matt Friedman, Noah Walcutt, Robbie Hazelton, Alex Boudreau, Rachel Hendrick, Madelyn Kanter, Katie Lynch, and Chyrssa Rask? |
